As well as offering a number of walking trails and bike paths within the community to encourage a safe, pedestrian friendly environment, Harriott is also positioned close to a number of scenic trails that make reaching your daily step count all the more enjoyable.

Harriott’s Network of Walking Paths

Designed with active living in mind, the Harriott masterplan offers a number of ways to embrace nature as you walk, run or cycle around the community. With more than two hectares of ecologically designed green space, and over 2km of walking and cycling trails in and around Harriott, every home is 200m from green spaces to roam, relax and enjoy nature.

At the heart of our community, the 25m wide Central Park features a 670m fitness circuit, and several lawn areas that connect to the local park. Inspired by the Curlew Sandpiper as it passes over varied landscapes to reach its wetland destination; the green spine uses varied planting, and generous lawn areas for passive recreation. A gravel area offers a space for Sunday markets or food vans to set up; and lawn areas provide space for kick to kick, or yoga and meditation.

Sparrovale Wetlands

Located next to Harriott, the Sparrovale wetlands offer more opportunities to explore, wander and maintain an active lifestyle close to home. The City of Geelong has a 20-year plan for the wetlands will see the area increase to a 500 hectare parkland with a focus on vegetation to help local wildlife flourish. Trail connections to the Barwon River Trail, Lake Connewarre and Geelong will also be established as part of these works, promising an expansive network for walking, running, cycling and nature enthusiasts.

Thirteenth Beach

For those seeking the soothing sounds of crashing waves and the refreshing breeze of the ocean, Thirteenth Beach is an ideal destination, just 9 minutes from Harriott. This 4.5-kilometre stretch of coastline invites residents to partake in invigorating walks, jogs, sandcastle-making, or even a game of fetch with a furry friend.

Armstrong Creek Loop

Starting at Warralily Boulevard Reserve and meandering along Armstrong Creek, this 5.3-kilometre loop trail offers an easy route for cyclers, runners, and walkers alike. With an average completion time of 1 hour and 3 minutes, this trail is perfect for family strolls, hitting your step count with friends, or walking the dog. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas.

Barwon River Trail

Less than a 20-minute drive from Harriott, the Barwon River Trail consists of more than 20 kilometres of sealed paths following the Barwon River. The scenic loop provides links to a number of reserves including Queens Park, Barwon Valley Park, Belmont Common, Balyang Sanctuary and Buckley Falls. You’ll also find parks, playgrounds, golf courses, a waterbird sanctuary, a waterfall and wetlands as you make your way around the trail, making it a diverse destination for every member of the family to enjoy.

Rippleside to Eastern Beach Walk

The Rippleside to Eastern Beach Walk is the perfect way to enjoy both coastal charm and urban vibrancy. This picturesque walkway traces the shoreline from Rippleside Park to the iconic Eastern Beach, offering stunning views of Corio Bay and the Geelong city skyline. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful morning stroll or a captivating sunset promenade, the coastal walk is a beautiful experience.
